I met up with my cousin Kari and her kids and my cousin Itol and her kids at the Union Station on Monday. My kids were so excited to see all the trains. I was pretty impressed with all the hands-on things that they had to offer kids. I thought that it was just a museum that you walked through and looked at things. They had quite a bit of things to do there.
Andy thought it was fun sitting inside one of the passenger cars.
The tour guide told us that this was the only thing left from the original station. The old one burned to the ground. This is an old weight scale. He said it was still pretty exact. We put all the kids on there to see how much they weighed together and then we forgot to look. lol
Here the kids are playing on the hand cart.
The other kids wanted to join in. I would say it is a little off balanced, or Andy doesn't know how to share just yet.
They even got to play with a train set. Sami favorite part was trying to eat as many rocks as she could before mom noticed. The Little stinker.
The kids got to go into the Cab where the engineer sits and play with all the buttons and blow the horn.
There were a two other museums there, the John M. Browning Firearms museum and the Browning-Kimball Classic Car museum. I didn't take any pictures but, it was really neat. We sat out on the grass for lunch and then the kids wanted to see the fountain out front.
They threw coins in and made a wish.
They loved the cool mist and little splashes of water on their faces.
Lyllee and Andy couldn't sit still long enough for me to take a picture. The water kept splashing them. That is Carson on the other side. The water didn't bother him any.
We headed over to the rows of trains after we were done with the fountain. Here's a few pictures.
