Girls Camp (June)

I got to go to girls camp with the young women in my ward this year! Camp was in Huntsville at the Camp Atoka. Our theme for this year was, "Happily Ever After." We all met up at the church for some lunch and a quick devotional. We had a surprise guest speaker too! Our very own Fairy Godmother! She started us off with some inspiring words about our Heavenly Father and his daughters (us).

Here we all are right before we piled into the cars and sped away to our "Happily Ever After." lol

I didn't head up with everyone though, Samantha had a recital that night that we didn't want to miss so, I headed up to camp the next morning.

When we got to camp, everyone was getting ready for tubing down the Weber River. Everyone changed into their swimsuits, packed a lunch and got into cars. We drove over to Henefer and met up with the tube rental people. After a quick safety lesson and lunch we headed over to the docking area of the river.
The river was so cold when we first got in, but we got used to it pretty fast. The scenery was really pretty along the river, we went past the Devil's Slide. I thought that was pretty cool to be so close to it. The only problem we had was when we hit an area where the river split and I suggested to the girls to go to the right because the left side didn't look like a good route to go. They had been complaining that the river hadn't been wild enough and despite my warning decided to go down the left side. They got bumped off their tubes and got some bumps and bruises. It shook them up a bit, but they were okay.

Another highlight of camp was going to the beach at Pine view. Sister Sanders set us up with a canoe, two kayaks and a few paddle boards. The girls had so much fun playing in the water and building sand castles in the sand.
