April Swimming Lessons

Another session of swimming lessons has come to a close. The kids have made some improvements and mom has had kept her sanity while we have been off track. I was able to read a whole book in the two weeks! Madelyn has had a hard time just sitting on the side lines. She really just wanted to jump in and swim but, I have kept her pretty busy with toys, snacks and playing on my phone.

Guest bathroom redo

So I got this great idea that I wanted to give the guest bathroom a little face lift. The baseboards looked like they had been to a war of moisture and the walls were too bare. I thought this would be a super easy fix, we could switch out the baseboards to match the rest of the upstairs, paint the walls and put a frame around the mirror. Sounds simple enough right? WRONG!!

At first there wasn't a problem at all. Hyrum took all the baseboards out and I taped everything off and prepared to paint the cupboards. Oh did I forget to mention that I add to the list of things to do and decided that the bathroom would look that much better if we painted the cupboards to? So, after I sanded the cupboards I primed them, and then painted them. I added bead board to the cupboard doors. I love it!! That was easy.

After the cupboard was dry I covered it up and painted the walls. I had a little trouble around the tub, i'm too short. Anyways, it turned out great! So after that paint dried I sent Hyrum in to put up the new baseboards. Here's where our super easy redo started to turn into a nightmare. When Hyrum started putting the new baseboards up he found that the vinyl flooring was too short and there would be lots of holes everywhere. When the old baseboards got wet they expanded and the people that fixed up this house to sell it just put the vinyl flooring up to the expanded baseboards, not under them. So, now we have a new item on the list of things to do. Buy new flooring. Yay..

That vinyl didn't want to come out, but after a few hours Hyrum chipped the last bit away and we were able to start tiling. Hyrum did a beautiful tile job.
Here is our finished guest bathroom, I think it turn out just great! Maybe we will start on the master bathroom soon!! haha

Our little Miss Independent turned TWO!

It is crazy to think that it's been two years since we welcomed Madelyn into our little family. She has grown so much in the past two years.

(This was taken when she was two weeks old)
This sweet girl keeps us on our toes, she loves to run, jump, crawl and explore everything around her. She loves to be outside! She loves to play in the sandbox with her siblings, play on the swing set and color the driveway with chalk. She is working on peddling on her bike.
She loves to change her clothes about ten times a day! Dad had to start pinning her pajamas closed to keep them on. She really doesn't like that. haha  She also loves shoes! She loves to put them on and take them off and to wear her sisters' shoes to.
She loves watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, her favorite character is Minnie Mouse. She loves to play with her dollies. She likes to wrap all of her dollies up in a blanky and carry them around.

Some of her favorite foods are: Corn on the cob, chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, ranch dressing, candy, and drinking milk from her bottle. (we are working on getting rid of the bottle)
She is such a tiny little thing weighing only 20 lbs 1/2 oz, and is 36.5 inches tall!

Here are some pictures from her birthday party. We had a bbq with family and rented a bounce house for all the cousins to play in. It was a blast!

Happy Birthday to you my little sweet pea!! Love you!

Easter fun with the neighbors

We live in such a great neighborhood. Everyone is so nice, and loves to get together and have parties! I love it! Just my kind of people! This is the second time we have celebrated the Easter holiday together. This year we decided to get together on Saturday, eat breakfast that was really good! Chip my neighbor makes some really good pancakes! After breakfast while the kids played around with balloons all the dad's went and hid eggs in one of the backyards. I took a few pictures from my new phone, I will use any excuse to use it. It's the new Samsung Galaxy S5! It has a 16 megapixel camera on it, of course I need to use it!

Lyllee and Samantha anxiously waiting for the egg hunt to begin!
When we opened the gate it was like a mad house of kids running for eggs! I think they found every egg in about 2 minutes! It was crazy!

I really shouldn't fly.

I must carry bad luck with me because the my flight home was a bit frustrating. The airplane I was waiting for to leave Fort Walton Beach was late arriving, and then the flight attendants said that they overbooked the flight so they offered any passenger $500 to give up their seat and stay until the next flight. I really wanted to take the deal because Hyrum wasn't coming home until tomorrow. But, I needed to get home to decorate a cake for my grandpa's birthday party. (That's why I was coming home a day early)

When we landed in Dallas Texas, I found my gate and then walked around to try to find something to eat. Unfortunately, all the food places in the terminal were already closed. Boo! I gave up looking for food and looked around the gift shop and bought some souvenirs for the kids. When I got back to the gate I found out that my flight was delayed because of some maintenance issues on the plane that would "only set us back 30 minutes," yeah.. I'm going to go with NO. After waiting for over an hour we finally got to board the plane. Then we waited another hour on the plane before it took off because of maintenance checks they still needed to do. Finally the captain came on and said it was time to go. The plane started up, started going down the runway and just as it was about to pick up speed, we stopped. The captain said that there was still some sort of issue that needed to be fixed. Well, we finally got the problem fixed about 20 minutes later and finally took off and headed to Salt Lake.

The passenger sitting next to me was really nice. He talked a lot, about his family, religion, and family secrets. I thought it was pretty funny at the amount of family gossip he was willing to share with a complete stranger. I guess he just needed to let it out. Lucky me. While he was spilling his guts, I remembered that I had two snicker bars in my purse so I offered him one of them since he had complained that they needed to feed us since we were stuck in the plane for so long. He wouldn't take it and for some reason I couldn't get myself to eat my snickers in front of him. I guess I just felt it would be rude to eat in front of him. Crazy thinking I know. I blame it on the super late hour (12:45 am) and the anxiety of flying all by myself. So I suffered the whole flight. lol Luckily he stopped talking for awhile for me to get a little shut eye. Not the most comfortable place to sleep, my head kept bobbing.

We landed in Salt Lake City at 2:00 am. and when the front doors opened I about fell over! It was really cold! What happened to my nice Florida weather, it was so nice and warm. I ran back inside to warm back up while I watched for my dad to come. He was so nice to wait up all this time for me.

Dad dropped me off at home, I came in and found my mom snoozing on the couch. The second my head hit the pillow I was out! The next thing I know, Madi is crying. I wanted to cry, I was soo tired! I made her a bottle and got back into bed. Slept for about an hour and then got up and spent the next 6 hours decorating a cake and taking care of four super awnry kids that missed their mom. I was exhausted, a bit shaky and ready to curl up into a ball and cry. I considered skipping my grandpa's birthday party and just sending my kids and the cake with my mom so I could get some sleep but, mom wouldn't go for that. Sigh..

The party was fun, grandpa really liked his cake. The kids were really siked that the party was at Golden Corral. Here's the cake..
It was a generation cake, everyone's name was written on a leaf and placed on the tree branch. Perfect for my family history junkie grandpa. haha
